Foggy dairy challenge morning
Foggy dairy challenge morning

It is almost spring break already, which is crazy, and this spring semester has been filled with so many experiences. Looking back on the fall semester, I mostly stayed at home and worked on schoolwork, and the spring has been a wild ride in comparison.

We started off with ADSA in Ames. I competed in skillathon, dairy products judging, dairy cattle judging, and dairy quiz bowl. Our team placed second in products judging and SDSU won the spirit award (woot woot). I was honored to be named Secretary/Treasurer for the new Midwest ADSA-USD board, and I'm excited for the year to come. It was good to catch up with old friends from around the Midwest and meet new ones.

A few short weeks after that, we just finished the Midwest Dairy Challenge contest in Brookings. We got to tour and analyze MoDak Dairy, which is a great farm but I would not recommend at -17 degrees in the morning hours. My team did not place in the top 2, but I learned a lot about how the contest flows and how to sort through the resources. For the SDSU team to practice, we analyzed Boadwine Farm, which was good to start practicing as a team before the national contest in Florida this April.

Overall, this semester is starting off pretty good and I hope it continues this way!
