About Me

Hi! I'm Hayley

I have been drinking milk since I was born, showing cows since I could walk, and promoting the dairy industry since I could talk. I have a strong passion for the dairy industry and as author Fabienne Frederickson said, “The things you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.” I love everything that the dairy industry encompasses, from getting up every morning to feed newborn calves to washing the show string for the county fair to advocating for dairy on social media – I love it all! I got my first calf for my 7th  birthday, Susie Q, who had an incredible, productive life that resulted in over a dozen heifers that I've shown over the years. Throughout my childhood, I participated in every aspect of the dairy industry from dairy judging, dairy quiz bowl, dairy princess, and showing.

I am a junior at South Dakota State University with a major in Dairy Manufacturing and minors in Health Science, Biology, and Food Safety. On campus, I am involved Dairy Club as the vice president and on the dairy camp and cheesebox committees, and I am involved in the Emergency Medical Services Club as the president. I also serve as the Midwest Regional ADSA-USD secretary/treasurer. Additionally, I work as a webmaster and student recruiter for the Dairy and Food Science Department and as a student dispatcher at the University Police Department. I also served as a 2023 South Dakota Dairy Ambassador where I got to promote the dairy industry to hundreds of people all over South Dakota. Off campus, I am involved in the Virginia Junior Holstein Association as the fundraising chair. I was recently recognized as a 2024 National Holstein Association Distinguished Junior Member Semifinalist. â€‹â€‹

This blog is a place for me to share the things that I am passionate about and my life as I figure it out through college and beyond.
